annoying rear brake squeak
annoying rear brake squeak
My 93Z has this annoying squeak at the back brakes. The squeak actually comes from the rotor or the caliper "rattling" but it is squeaking when I go over bumps. The brakes themselves do not squeal or squeak when applied only when my foot is not on the pedal and I go over bumps. Also if I "boot" the back tire I can make the squeak.
I took it apart last week cleaned all the mating surfaces between the rotor and the hub, pulled everything apart cleaned everthing thouroughly the pads are at least 75% left and I put eveything back together. When I cleaned them up the squeak went away but now two weeks later it is back on one wheel.
Any body have the same and if so how did you get rid of it.
advice is most appreciated

Sounds like you don't have your pads seated in the caliper correctly.
theres little metal tabs on the pads that need to be seated to the caliper by bending them over tighter with a hammer, also you might wanna put some disc brake silencer on the back of the pads. comes in a spray can put it on the backs off the pads not the front, also you might wanna grease the caliper bushings to make sure there moving freely.
If your pads arent seated tight in the caliper it will rattle and squeak.
