is it true that all LT1's are alluminum blocks? I'm thinking about purchasing a 6speed 94 z with an lt1 and I was wondering if the block is alluminum or not. thanks in advance

All LT1 blocks are iron. F-bodies had aluminum heads and Impalas had iron heads.

Re: aluminum block?

Not LT1s. The Corvette LT1's had 4 bolt mains but were still iron blocks.

Re: aluminum block?

Yup... LTx motors are all Iron block motors; the LSx style of engines are available in both iron and aluminum (F-bodies and Vette LS cars are Aluminum, and the trucks are iron)

No.... some people just feel they have to put people down for asking a simple question. Most of the people around here are not like that.

Yea, some people need to just go jump off a bridge so we don't have to ready their senseless replies.

RKPsk8er, you just keep asking questions, somebody here will help you out. we all have to learn somehow,i know i have a 16 y.o nephew who i gave him his first car a{camaro}. every time i see him he has a lot of questions about cars. as long as i can keep him away from the ricers will be okay.

your in the right place to learn about an f-body!

Ask all the questions you want and MOST of the time you will get an answer without a smart remark.

My best advice is to use the search feature before you ask a question. Most of the time you will find your answer before you make a new thread. If not, ask away.

BTW, All LT1/LT4 engines had an iron block. heads could be either iron or aluminum depending on f-body of b-body.

The LS1 in the 98+ is an aluminum block.
