Alti'nador brackets, just a pain in the ***...

Went to change my spark plugs the other day and have figured out that the GM designers must've been high that day when deciding how to bolt up the accessories. Don't get me wrong, this is by far the best designed and best looking motor GM put out in the during the 90's. But what were they thinking?

Anyway, looking at it, is it possible to get rid of the two bars that mount the alternator to the exhaust bolts completely? The aluminum bracket that currently houses the alternator looks strong enough to go with out those bars. Anyone ever done this or have done other things? FYI, the style I'm talking about is the Impala setup with the acessories on the right.

Yes,when I installed headers I left the exhaust bracket off with no problems.Leave the one that bolts to the intake though.
