Alternator problems...
A few days ago, my alternator was surging a little when I was at high speeds, I figured the belt was just slipping (it's old) and I'll just change it. Well today, (I didn't change it yet) its running very high, like just under the red 18 on the gauge. Also, the clicking of the blinker was a lot faster then normal, the ABS INOP light came on and the check gauges light is flickering. My roommate sid that some cars have a regulator that controls the amount of power the alternator puts out and that it may have gone bad. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Re: Alternator problems...
Every newer car has a regullator. Stick a volt meter on the battery when the car is running and see what the voltage is. I think it is supposed to charge around 13.5v. Don't remember for sure though. POst up what voltage it does put it.
