383 Stroker Parts Questions
One of my friends is piecing together a 383 and had some questions so I'm posting for him.
His current mods: 3500 stall, LE2 heads and cam (ordering in spring), Hooker LTs.
He's looking for 420+rwhp on the motor and 500-550rwhp on the juice.
Which Crank: Scat? Callies? Other?
Which Rods: Eagle? Scat? I beam? H beam?
Bearings: King? Clevite? Federal Mogul?
Rings: Speed Pro?
Pistons: SRP forged?
What final compression should he run?
He bought a Melling high volume oil pump. Does he need a Canton pan to prevent oil starvation after a burnout when he races?
What would be the best place to order from?

Re: 383 Stroker Parts Questions
What kind of budgett does he have? For the crank any of the 3 will work fine. As far as the rods go its a matter of prefrence but I would and did go with Scat H-beams. Bearings again prefrence, I have used both Clevite and King with great results. As far as rings go I would recoment plasma molly file to fit and what ever set the manuf of the piston recomends. SRP pistons are fine (What I have) the JE's are a little better but more $$$ and yes forged. As far as the compresion that depends on what he wants the motor to do and what cam selection. Static CR is not the key Dynamic is and you need to have all the factors including cam selection. Remember also that a 383 is not the end all to beat all in terms of HP it is the TQ that makes the stroker not HP. Depending on the cam selection you may also may consider starting with LT4 castings before having LE port them.

Re: 383 Stroker Parts Questions
Scat 9000 and Scat I's (w/ the 7/16's bolts) will do just fine with a set of SRP's, Any of those bearings work well.
As long as he tells Lloyd that he's doing a 383 he should be ok in the heads/cam department. A set of LT1 castings would do, but 400-410 is about all the power you will see from them, maybe 420. Getting the intake done to match the heads would help too.
As for ordering..... Any place that has competitve prices and helps you out with knowledge and part selection.
