Unhappy alternator mounting confusion!!!no ride to work!!

ok,had a bad alternator, bought a new reman last night.(140amp) now with the new alternator the lower rear mounting bracket will not line up. off by like an inch. tried all different ways but its an obvious fitment issue. **also the original bolt from that lower rear bracket wont even fit in the alternator screw holes, found a bolt that will BUT wont make it threw the mounting bracket hole.
guy at pepboys swears im doing something wrong, says the part # matches the old one(pro start#8172607). the kid i got the car from did the A.C. delete, could this be my issue? but why would the old alternator fit even if it was smaller?
im totally lost and already missed a day of work,so any and all help is very much appreciated! thanks guys! P.S. no faith in parts store, dont want to buy new brackets if its the wrong alternator. what do i do??

Here is how it should look as far as mounting goes:

i understand how it should look, its just that lower rear from the exhaust manifold that is off by like an inch(too high and a bit to the right) i was just looking at an old thread and they mentioned aftermarket headers not having mounting holes and such and that some guys left that lower rear bracket off and had no issues. everything lines up fine, just not that one bracket. leave it off? do i chance killing a new alternator?

I have never used the one from the exhaust. You'll be fine without that one as long as the one to the intake is still in place. Been without it on mine for 50k plus with zero issues.

I had the same problem when I put a newer 140A on my 93. The bracket was too long. I shortened it, heated it cherry red, flattened the end with a BFH, and drilled a new hole. I posted about it in this thread, but no one commented on it, so I thought it was just me. https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=765749
