Thumbs down Alright... Time to work on the drivetrain.

Okay, took the Z28 out for a cruise today, and no question... My transmission is slipping now on the 1-2, noticably.

The last round of mods seems to have sealed the deal, since the transmission seemed to be completely healthy immediately before that point. -As was the guess of Javier and other people that diagnosed what I thought was a miss at high RPM.

Shortly after buying my car in august, I realized that the limited slip was just about done as well. It would go peg leg on occasion, then quite often. I planned on dealing with it, but wasn't planning on a transmission too. At least not at this point. Suxor.

Now the heads/cam is going to have to be delayed until closer to summer, while I add a built transmission (FLP or whoever) to the list that already included a Moser or Strange 12 bolt. I had been initially planning on the heads and cam in March-April.

Oh well, I knew that at the time of the heads and cam this would all have to be addressed, but now it has to be addressed immediately. Doh!

This is one of those times I can be happy that this is a project/weekend car and not my daily driver. Time to nurse my girl back to health again.

Yah, seems like you're at that "turning point" where all starts to need replacement.

My rear is still cuttin 1.6 shorts for me, but with the new power I'll be throwing at it with the new heads/cam who knows how long she'll go for.

My tranny for the most part shifts OK, but when hotlapped will slip on 2-3.

Go for a CPT transmission. Check the vendor index.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I had sent a PM to Frank last week but no reply as of yet. I'm sure like anyone running a shop he's pretty busy.

Get a well built CPT trans and put a good stall in which will match your heads/cam setup. 10 bolts have gone 10 flat behind an auto, so I would stick with that and just rebuild it. A rebuilt 10 bolt can be done for $600-$800 with good parts.

Your best bet is to give Frank a call. If he doesn't answer, usually he calls back that same day. His # is on his website - www.cahallperformancetransmissions.com (302-250-1202)

Just a little note....Shipping from California will run about $125 each way. Even with the extra $250, we're still less expensive than most other places...Especially when you take a look at what you get for your money.

Thanks,
Frank

Can i ask why you are getting a 12 bolt? I'd just get a used 3.42 10bolt for a few hundred. Since you have an auto you can get away with a lot with that 10bolt. That would let you get the heads and cam sooner. If you are going to do heads, cam and tranny, i'd just personally drop the motor and tranny out the bottom and do all the work, then reinstall it.

I just don't want to go half assed while the work is being done. When I'm at 400RWHP and launching it at the track on sticky rubber I'd hate to blow up a 10 bolt that I had taken the time to swap in.

And I won't be able to do the heads/cam/transmission all at the same time unless I park the car until summer. Which I don't really want to do. That's too much cash at once... The transmission I can do, but not with heads and cam/related parts altogether.

Go with Dana at Pro-Built.

http://www.pro-built.net

He's local too. Frank and Dana both build great trannies.
