Angry Alright i need your help Stupid Serivice engine light

Alright well i have been trying to get my car inspected. Well the car was throwing a 0141 and it came up twice on the readding.

Now i THOUGHT it was the very last 02 sensor ( the one RIGHT after the 2nd cat.) but i guess i was wrong. But i ended up replacing that one with an 02 sim.

Can anyone tell me where this 02 is located or have a picture because i thought it was the other one. btw the def. for the code is.

P0141- Oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction ( post-converter sensor, left bank )

Also can you pass inspections with 02 sims?

A sensor failure doesn't mean the sensor is defective all the time. Could be the reference voltage to the sensor is bad. As in cut wire or bad connection. Could be the signal wire from the sensor has a problem. When ever you aren't sure which O2 your dealing with, unplug one at a time and scan it to see which one is unplugged. No matter what type of sensor is showing defective, there are a few things that should always be done. Like check to be sure there is reference voltage and ground and all the wires have good connections not just at the sensor but all the way back to the PCM.

The 141 is the heater circuit. Bank 1 sensor 2 should be driver side after cat. Unplug and confirm 1st with the scanner that is the right one. Then check pink wire for 12V & black wire for ground. Unplug it and check from the wire on the sensor that plugs into the the pink wire and to the wire on the sensor that plugs into the black wire with an ohm meter to see if it's between 3.5 to 14 ohms. Sorry the book only gives the color of the wires for the harness and not the wires on the sensor it self so I can only tell you the harness colors not the sensor (from connector to O2). If all looks good, try swapping the left and right rear sensors. Chances are you have a wiring problem. If the above checks out.

Re: Alright i need your help Stupid Serivice engine light

well thnx for that info i went I'll check that if it still doesn't work out.

But also what i needed to know is is that the LAST 02 on the car?

and when they say post cat does that mean post my 1st one or after the 2nd one?

because right now i don't understand the drive side bank one bank 2 thing because there is no driver side or passenger side to the pipe that its in... its one single pipe that goes out to my cut out and mufflers..

Is this the right 02 sensor? Its the last 2 botttom pics.

You've got to crawl under your car more often. Unless someone has converted your dual cat car to a single cat setup.....

Drivers side cat is bolted directly to the bottom flange on the drivers side exhaust manifold. Its up high, so you might not have noticed it. There is a "pre-cat" sensor screwed into the base of the exhaust manifold, and the "post cat" sensor right below the cat.

Passenger side is at the end of the passenger side branch of the Y-pipe, just before the drivers and passenger branches merge together. There is a pre-cat sensor up near the flange of the Y-pipe, and a post cat sensor immediately after the cat.

P0141 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) heater circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2

Bank 1 = left side = drivers side = cylinders 1, 3, 5, 7.

Bank 2 = right side = passenger side = cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8

Sensor 1 = pre-cat sensor

Sensor 2 = post-cat sensor.

Your cats are in parallel, not in series.

ah ok i get it now . For some reason i thought the 2 came together then went through another cat. I'll get to the other sensor tomorrow.

So basicly i just did the wrong side and did bank 2 sensor 2.

Also can my car pass OVERALL with 02 sims?

If the sims where installed in place of the rear O2's because of SES lights, then the original problem was catalyst efficiency. Noone can say without testing if the catalyst is bad enough to visibly effect the emissions test. So basically it's a shot in the dark.

I wish the FED's would mandate a country wide method of testing. Here in southern VA for example, there is no emissions testing.
