first off i am strapped for cash right now so here are the choices and prices

1. Pacesetter longtubes with or y pipe non coated $427 shipped

2. BBK shorties $350 shipped chrome

3 Used mAC mids for 300 shipped non coated

4. Pacesetter shorties new wiht y pipe 289 shipped with y to my door.

are the PS shorties any good? how is plug access on them?

also same on BBK?

I'm very impressed with the Mac mid lengths. I have several friends running them with good track numbers and great plug access. I'd suggest you get a coated set though to keep the temps under the hood down. I'm running JBA shorties, they're pricey but fully smog legal.

Definately get some that are ceramic coated. I'm getting real tired of replaceing spark plug wires, and redoing electical wiring because of my non-coated headers. They destroy everthing. It would have cost me less to just get ceramic coated headers in the first place.

They wont burn the wires initially, but the greater heat (ALOT MORE) will destroy the integrity of the wire over time. Sometimes it can be tricky to route the plug wires so they wont burn. It took some zip ties and about an hour to route all my wires correctly.

I have MAC mids uncoated. I wish i had coated. I think you can get some MACs coated for around 450sih.

Pacesetter shorties had some fitment issues from what ive been told.

I know a place that sells coated pacesetters lingtubes for 374 shipped. Add a y-pipe for 125 and you got it all for 500. I dont know how plug access is for the Pacesetters is though.

Don't get shorties unless your worried about emissions, everyone regrets getting shorties. I've heard of fitment issues with shorties to but the pacesetter longtube design isn't even a year old I don't think. When I got mine one they went on great with good access plus there cheap. Mine are uncoated to and I have yet to have any burn wires or other problems

Out of the headers listed, Pacesetter LTs are your best choice (ceramic coated is possible). If not, still stick with tho's

Get coated Hooker/Jet-Hot/Pacesetter LTs. If you don't have enough cash right now, wait until you do and get the right headers or you might regret it later on.

Just another thought: aren't there ground clearance issues w/ longtubes? That's the main reason I'm looking at shorties or mids. By the way, I'm assuming mids don't bolt up to the stock y-pipe. Is this correct?

I vote for either the Pacesetter Longtuces, or the MAC mids, but get them coated.

sspup, yes there can be ground clearance issues with LT's but it's generally only a problem with lowered cars.

The mids do not bolt to the stock Y-pipe, they come with the Y-pipe.
