Almost thought I blew a head gasket

After installing 30# injectors and my pcm from madwolf my car started spewing small amounts of white smoke. I got a little worried since I just finished a head swap not too long ago. The smoke didn't smell sweet and it wasn't think so I didn't know what to make of it. But upon further inspection I found that the PCV tube that goes from the passenger side valve cover to the throttle body was unplugged at the valve cover.
I plugged it back in and no more smoke. Any idea why it would cause my car to smoke with it unplugged?

Unmetered air = really lean... which would hit the O2s and set the trim to the max, and you'd have a LOT of extra fuel, which is what probably caused the smoke
