All pushrods bent badly on one side. Help.

Ok, my rr's must have been way loose. I heard a little clanking before but now its loud. So i inspected everything and found 8 bent rods on the drivers side. Problem is that when they were moving up and down off the lifter it caused them to eat away the sides of the pushrod holes. Anyone ever have this happen to them, and did you have any problems afterwards? Im going to change all the rods out and put the rr's on and pray that nothing is messed up.

luckily for you the pushrods are designed to take all the abuse when something goes wrong..thats why they bend. I have had that happen to, but with me it was only on one cylinder and i know why the loosened up..i was in a rush and didn't take my time and all when i set the initial pre-load and valve lash. Go to shoebox's site and he has the correct way to adjust your valves. If you have comp R lifters it is painfully easy to set the preload. Spin the pushrod till u feel drag, then turn the nut 1/8-1/4 turn and tighten down the lock.

I have seen and read about the pushrods contacting the side of the heads when people have changed to a higher ratio. The higher the ratio, the closer the rod to the fulcrom. If that was the case, you may have bent them first and then they seemed loose. Be very careful to check for contact with the heads when rotating the engine over by hand. If they do contact the heads, use a luis tool to open up the hole they pass through.
