I used header studs 12 point head. I had to make my on wrench. The hooker headers don't have any extra room so a closed end wrench was cut to make a larger open end style wrench.

ttt

I just switched from the standard 7/16" bolts to the ARP hex-head 3/8" on my Jet-Hot LTs and FINALLY, I'm able to tighten all of my header bolts within minutes with just a deep-well 3/8" 1/4 drive socket and 3/8" open-end wrench! No more cussing and throwing tools.

One thing not mentioned; Get the 1" long ARP bolts not the 3/4" .

Ditto, this advice. Frankly, I can't understand the popularity of the 3/4" size. My ARP 1" bolts have held tight for nearly 5 years with no loosening or gasket leaks.

When I do my header I plan on going with these, they seem to be the best of both worlds. 12 point and locking.
Maybe a little expensive but well worth the non leaking gaskets.

I did the 3/4 on mine, after all this time I still have yet to have a leak. I don't check them but once a month or so when I remember it, and they are never loose.

Which one would you guys recommend over the other (for those really tight areas) for my Grotoyhann Long tube headers and Why?

ARP 5/16 12 point header bolts??
or
ARP 3/8 hex header bolts??

And what Length should I go with.

Thanks for any input,
Claude

My stage 8's are great with my Edlebrock shorties. No problems except the last one one the drivers side. Got it from the bottom. The rest I can do foom the top with a 1/4 ratchet.

I couldn't be happier with my stage 8's I love the allen key option for tightening them, and they never get loose on me anyways. I didn't use the locks either, didn't care to go through that pain in the ***.

I may be second guessed, but I would, and DO use the
ARP 5/16 12 point header bolts

Why is that? Is it that much smaller and better clearance wise?

Thx,
Claude

I have good enough clearance on some of the primaries that i can actually get a socket on them

I used to have the 3/8 hex head, I hated them with a passion.
I could never get a good turn on them without having to reposition my wrench numerous times.
With the 5/16, I can get almost a full turn without any probs. FWIW, my primaries are 3/4, Dynatech headers. It may be different on other brands of headers(clearance). I just wnated to share my opinion/experience with you. Hope I have given you the information you are after.
