Exclamation All 93 Owners With Longtubes In Here!

Ok, I was wondering what you guys do to keep your car in CLOSED LOOP?

Us 93 owners don't have heated 02s so the exhaust temperature must heat the 02s to atleast 600*F in order for the 02s readings to be accurate.

But with longtubes, our 02s move further away from the engine and they cannot heat the 02s up! Someone help!

Switch to heated O2's your gas mileage will be horrible if you keep the car in closed loop all the time.

You may convert to to heated 02's.

I purchased conventional heated 3 wire sensors. Any Autozone will have them. Just ask for a heated 3-wire sensor.

There are 3 wires, 1 white, 2 black

White wire is your singal wire, just connect that to the grey wire on your car,

1 black is for ground, - I got the ground from bellhousing cover bolts on the transmission.

1 black is for is power, - use any hot relay, such as injector relay, ignition or wire you own power supply with a switch.

AWESOME! I was thinking of switching 02s, but didn't know if it was possible!!!!!

Sweet, one question, is 12v too much power for the 02's????

I thought the same too, until I datalogged....

Have you guys viewed any data from your PCM? Just curious because I don't believe your guys' STAY in open loop.

I had to rev my engine up for 10 minutes for it to Close the loop, then after1 minute of idle it when back to Open mode...

HEated 02s here I come! Doe's anyone have any price on them? I know jegs sells them, but unknown if the thread pitch is the same... anyone?

The Standard Bosch 3 Wire Heated 0'2 cost me about $35 each at my local Auto Zone.

My 93 had no problem enetering closed loop as well. I did have the bungs in the headers collector and not the y-pipes flange. Also my headers were coated, coated headers keep the heat better in the charge.

Mine would go into closed loop without the heated O2's but it never ran completely right. I noticed however in Datamaster that my O2 mv range wasn't really where it should be. I converted to heated O2's and the problem went away. The car ran fine and still does, or at least it would if I had my new torque arm in.

Injuneer or Shoebox may pipe in on this one but my hypothesis is that in my case my O2's were working enough to get the PCM into closed loop but never got into their proper operating temperature in order to provide accurate information to the PCM.

It's my story and I'm sticking with it. At any rate heated O2's worked for me. I also purchased the female portion of the connectors from Jason Cromer so that I could disconnect the new O2's without having to remove them from the headers.

One question, what Bosch 02 sensors should I buy? For what make/model? I don't want to get one that doesn't fit the 02 bung!

Thanks guys, can anyone tell me how I should wire up the power wire??? Should I just ground it through a Relay and hook the power to a consistant 12v supply, any inline fuse????

THANKS AGAIN, you guys rock!
