alarm/starter kill bypass
alarm/starter kill bypass
My sister gave me a 94 Z 28 that she melted the motor in, I put a 96 model motor/ front end in it, but the car has an aftermarket alarm with starter disable. needless to say she has lost the remote to the alarm. I called the shop that installed the alarm and they said they would take it out cuz it has a lifetime warranty, the problem is the shop is 1.5 hours away from me, they said i could bypass the starter kill under the dash. What are they talking about? How do I bypass the starter kill? Keep in mind this is only to get the car to the shop.
The starter disable thingy is just a relay that has four wires:
a wire (usually ground) from the alarm brain,
a power wire,
and two starter wires. One that goes to the ignition, and one that goes to the starter or ECM or something.
All you need to do to bypass it, is find out which two wires are the starter (I think they are yellow, or maybe purple) (they will be big guaged) and connect them back together, without the relay in between.
Make sure it is a very good connection though, you don't want to be stranded somewhere because it came undone.
