Airbag...toss it or keep it?

I am building a decent combo...should make in the 500 rwhp on motor, 650 rwhp on n2o running thru a TH400 and 12 bolt. This combo will be using a t-brake and 4500-5000 rpm launches.

At what point does one take out the air bag?

I really don't want to because I already know that in 2-3 years, I am swapping the combo and going to run a t-trim, foot brake setup, basically a lot more umph, but try to be more streetable...so I would like to keep it for that.

ANy thoughts?

If you want to be streetable you need an airbag for inspection. If you are gonna be a track car take that thing out.

i have never thought about this, but is there any way the airbag would deploy if you launched that hard? By the way, have you thought about a 9 inch rear with a locker for that thing? Seems like it would fit your needs a little better.

A few people's airbags have deployed at the track. You can always take it out temporarily. Just store it some place safe/dry and reuse it later on when you need it.

Kill the air bag until inspection time.

State inspection. I have mine unplugged through the Fuse and SIR plug. I don't trust something that is 15 years old.

It isnt required unless it was required by law at the time the car was produced.

Re: Airbag...toss it or keep it?

If you put a cage in a car, take it out. Airbag can blow you into your rollbar and kill you instantly.
