air temp sensor: why is it not threaded???

I have a Vortec TB elbow that has a threaded hole which I thought holds the air temp sensor but I bought a brand new one from GM and it has no threads. What gives?? Is there another one from a different car I need?

Read the directions that came with the elbow

You need to take a die(I believe 1/2") to it and thread it. Or you can do what I did and put a plug in the elbow and relocate the IAT.

yeah, I do have a problem with reading direction So I thread the plastic? Sounds cheezy but I'll do it. Will this hold pressure? Say 20psi?

If you are using it in a pressure application, you should consider upgrading to a threaded sensor. It's a pretty standard thermistor. You could get them in the downloadable MoTeC catalog. Look at page 32 for air temp sensors.

It's not hard to cut threads into the stock GM piece. Just take your time and rock the dye back and forth. If you force it you will break the plastic housing.
