Re: Air Temp Sensor Relocation

I dont see the point. Most people move it as far away as possible to get correct readings without heat soak.

That relocation doesn't work, done it before to mine, made it run like ****, moved it back and it ran fine.

When you moved it away it ran like ****? That's odd. I know alot of people who have moved it for numerous reasons and it ran fine. My friend bought one that had the wires cut and it still ran ok.

If you had a problem with relocating it, you may have had a problem with the wiring. There is no reason locating the IAT sensor farther away from the engine will hurt an MAF car. I ran mine in the metal cap on the cone filter on my CAI for years with no problems. Eliminated the heat soak on the sensor.

It wont hurt but I also feel it wont help. I have monitored my sensor with my scanmaster and the only time it heat soaks is if the car is sitting still at idel for a very long time.

Another cold thread reply but I wanted to comment on the virtue of keeping the rubber elbow; three words on that - minimum heat soak. I was going to buy an aluminum elbow for a better way of securing of my wet application nitrous fogger nozzle. After reading how the LS6 composite intake on my LS1 defers a large amount of heat soak I figure the same rule applies to my LT1's rubber intake elbow. I do see a slight increase in temperature readings over the ambient air temps for the IAT sensor but it is small enough that I don't think I will bother to move the sensor.

BTW, thanks very much for your posting on fixing the window motor. I just did it and so far it has saved me a trip to the parts store and about $60.
