Re: Air Pump/ Smog Check Help Please!!

So I have an update guys, I know it has been a while but working 6 days a week has kept me really busy!

The EGR was bad, it was not holding vaccum, diaphram was leaking, I also checked the solonoid and lines to and from it and all checked out good. The PCM is sending a signal to the solonoid as well.

So I put a new EGR valve on and I thought I was home free!

My car still failed smog the NOX dropped by about 50 ppm at both 15 and 25 MPH.

So now I am at 1124 ppm and I need to be at 483 for 15 MPH

For 25 MPH I am at 1021 and I need to be at 494

Any other thoughts? I need my car back on the road! Thanks!!

Have you dismissed the possibility that the new cat was damaged as a result of running incorrectly?

What about misfires?

Re: Air Pump/ Smog Check Help Please!!

The mechanic checked everything over real good and could not find anything else wrong with the car.

Would the new cat get damaged by the high NOX running through it, the new cat has like 100 miles on it and a smog check as far as usage.

The mechanic is going to drill a hole before and after the new cat and insert smog probe to see if the new cat is operating correctly. He said he has seen new ones that are faulty!

Thanks for the help guys!!!!
