Air Pump Fuse Blown
95 Z-28
Air Pump Fuse blows as soon as car is started therefore turning on SES Light in dash therefore fans come on and stay on.
Low coolant sensor is bad and will be replaced tomorrow but it is not connected to PCM.
Any ideas??
My thoughts are a bad coolant temp sensor on water pump?
Is there any correlation between air pump and fuses?? I pray its not bad air pump, if it was, would car even run??
Help me save $70 for diagnostics at Midas or should I have it scanned anyway??

I had this problem as well. Air pump fuse would blow every time I started the car. It was a bad air pump, about 120$ to change out. The air pump preheats the cat's till the exhaust manifolds heat up. Or atleast that's how I understand it. I don't believe it effects drivng at all since it turns off when the manifolds reach something like 600 degrees and the ECM starts taking readings from the sensors. I took my air pump and fittings off, since I don't have a cat and it runs just fine. As far as the low colant light being on. If your level is fine, then I would think it is a bad sensor. It's easy enough to chanfge, it's on the front of the radiator. Hope this helps.
I can't decide "what" to vote for in the pole.
The temp sensor has nothing to do with the low coolant. It has a sensor of it's own, here. You can try to clean it, replace it or unplug it to get rid of the light.
Your AIR pump is probably shorting out internally and blowing the fuse. If you don't want to replace the pump, try unplugging it and then putting a good fuse in.
BTW, there was a recall for AIR pumps that probably covers your 1997. If you have not had that done, the dealer should do it for free. Call the dealer and give them your VIN to check.

Your air pump is shot. The dealer should replace it. Mine was eligible but i never made an appointment for it and just ended up taking the AIR system off. If the dealer won't replace it just unplug it and put a fuse in you won't get a SES light and the car will run and drive fine.
