Air Pump 94 Z

My Air Pump Is Making This Really Loud Whining Sound (bearings?) And I Was Wondering What Are The Pros (if Any) And Cons By Disconnecting Only The Sensor To It?

There no sensor, but if you disconnect the pump (leaving a good fuse in the fusebox), there won't be much of any consequence on a 1994.

If you have the time, just tear the thing out of the car. Its amazing how much easier it is to route plug wires and how much less crowded the motor looks without it. I did it to my 94 Impala SS when I was doing the timing chain and opti and it was surprising how much space cleared out not having the big tube and pump in the way.

You will need two 22mm-1.5 oil drain plugs to plug the holes in the exhaust manifold. And a 5/8" vacuum cap to plug the air supply connection on your air intake system.

Re: Air Pump 94 Z

Another vote for taking it all out. After having the first pump replaced under warranty, it's now in a box in my garage after my LT install (the car was also showing some indications that the pump was crapping out again). It does clean up the engine bay alot though!
