Exclamation AIR Pump

The bearings in the AIR pump in my 93 Z are going out. When I start up, I can hear a whining coming from the pump for about 10 seconds. I know its not necessary to have this thing operating and it's embarrasing when it decides to start whine.
So, what I want to know is if I should just unplug it, if I should remove it, or if it would be better to replace it. I am in Florida and don't have to worry about emmissions testing. I donno if unplugging it would cause the engine light to stay on, but I want to avoid that. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT

Tear that sucker off . It will give ya some room and look way better without it. Use 22mm plugs for the exhaust holes.

from what i've heard, since your car is a 93... it uses ODB 1, therefore you shouldn't throw a code for removing the AIR

Does anybody have a diagram of the AIR pump and what needs to be taken off?

Thanks

So, you guys would lean more towards removing the thing completely and freeing up space, rather than unplugging it and leaving the system still in place?

Hey, check with GM or Chevrolet and see if there's an open recall on that part for your car. There's still one open on my '96 Z28 that I need to take care of this spring and GM's required by law to pay for it free of charge. I found out by calling Chevy's customer service and gave them my VIN #. Hope that solves it for you.

Thanks I didn't know about calling to see about recalls. That would be great. I wonder if my drive shaft is covered too
