Air not working

I know I know the ac makes the car slow, But its getting hot. This is my first spring with this car so I don't know if it worked last year.
I checked the fuses ( both under the hood and side panel of dash ) both good. Checked the relay. Clicks when you apply 12v and ohms out. and replace with one of the fan relays. The high pressure switch I jumped the connector and the RPMs go up and the fan comes on. I can't hear the AC clutch engage. I can not get to the connector on the AC compressor. any thing you can think of before I take it to the Shop and dose anyone have a part number of the compressor so I can check prices so I don't get it in the rear.

Thanks
Mark

Angry AC

My compressor went bad last summer. My dad who's been a mechanic for 20 years and I replaced it, along with seals, and then charged it. The thing still BARELY works. It barely worked even right after the job was done. It was a job too, and he didn't know what the problem was with it. If it had been up to me I would have tossed the old compressor out, wrapped off or taken out the lines, and re-routed the belt. But it sounds like you enjoy cold air too much to do that so best of luck.

the first thing that you need to establish is that you have freon i the system. if you do we can go from there.

first thing. start teh car and turn the ac on. take a long screwdriver or peice of pipe etc etc and touch the compressor clucth with it. is the clutch magnitized? if not it;s not getting power . if yes and it;s still not running the compresssor is bad. you can try wacking on it a little but it's probably dead.

things to start with..

check the 3 wire pressure switch at the AC line near the evap core housing. should have ground on the black wire and 5 volts on the grey wire.

move to the compressor relay. you should have 2 termonals that are hot with the key on. you should also have ground all the time with teh ac off on one of the termonals, this should be the line out to teh compressor. take the hot feed and jump it to that signal. does teh clutch click? if yes look for the ground signal on teh last termonal from the computer when the ac turns on. if it doesn;t click you need to get at the plug on teh compressor and see if your getting ground and the jumped hot feed.
