Air intake port

Happy 4th everyone, just had a quick question here. I have a 94 z28 which I just finished putting in a new opti and deleting the A.I.R. pump and hoses. I took it all apart last fall and just now got time to put everything back together. My question is, there is a port on the tube between the maf sensor and the air filter box that I just cant remember what went there. Its about the diameter of a dime, like a air or vacuum tube should go there. I think its where one of the AIR hose went, but I just cant remember since it was last fall when I took it off. I know I should have marked it, but didnt. Other than a minor water pump hose leak which i took care of , it fired right up and runs fantastic. Been fighting this car since last summer, should have just replaced the opti and been done with it. I guess you live and learn. thanks for any help.

Re: Air intake port

If its the size of a dime, then I would think it to be the IAT sensor.

I think you are correct. It should be for the AIR system. That's the only tube to connect between the MAF and air filter.

Re: Air intake port

As noted, the hose that supplies filtered air to the AIR pump connects there. Since you removed the AIR pump, you need to put a 5/8" vacuum cap over that nipple.

The IAT is between the MAF and the throttle body, not between the air filter box and the MAF.
