I think the LT1 likes the coldest air.Why heat the air (unless blown).my02.Previous posts years ago did temp readings on both rubber and aluminum,and the rubber was cooler hands down.Hope this helps.

My stock elbow is torn as well and I need a replacement. Based on this thread, I've decided against the aluminum. What about the polymer based elbow from Trick Flow? So far it's between this one and the 1LE.

Maybe the elbow was not hot because the air flowing through the inside of it absorbed all the heat, keeping it cool. A thin piece of aluminum is a much better heat conductor than a thicker piece of rubber.
