!Air???(I already searched!)
Well, next weekend, me and my buddy are going to be gutting my cats because both of them are not doing too hot. Well, this got me to thinking, why couldnt I just remove my Air Pump system while I got a little more room and since I wont have cats anymore, whats the point. Well, after searching and finding lots of useful stuff, I still have a few questions. How can I get this thing to not set a SES light, I dont need a long term fix, cuz in the summer im going to be getting a tune done by Speed Inc. However, I dont want a SES light on for 4 months. I read in one of the search threads that someone used a resistor or something like that to trick the comp into thinking it was all good. But, it didnt seem like a well known or thought about alternative. I am wondering if there has been anymore progress on this? The thread I saw this in was like a year old, so im hoping maybe more people have done this or figured out how to make the OBD-II computer not set a SES light. Anyways, thanks for any input and help.
You're going to need O2 simulators for the back two sensors behind the cats. They will know the cats aren't there anymore and throw a SES. I'm not sure about OBD-II, but on OBD-I cars deleting AIR doesn't throw any codes.
Yeah, I already got O2 simms cuz like i said, my cats are bad, and I had to have the car emission tested, so to clear the SES light for those babies, I had to get the O2simms. And yeah, I wish I had OBD-I, but unfortunately I got OBD-II. So, anybody got any ideas for me???
O2 simms probably wasn't the best idea. The output that the stock O2 sensors send to the PCM isn't that accurate as it is; simply bolting up a pair of fake O2's may even make your car run worse than if you weren't running with any O2's...
My advise would be to either get a brand new pair of O2's or get some used ones...used O2's may cause you to run a bit rich though (not always bad)...
Just my $.02

Im a 97, so I have 4 O2 sensors, two in front of the cats and two behind. I got two for the rear O2 sensors because of my bad cats. All the sims do is say that the cats are working and agreeing with the what the computer says should be happening.
But back to the question, does anyone know of any ways to make sure the SES light doesnt come on if i do this, other than a computer tune? Cuz the tune will be done this summer, but until then, I would prefer not to have a SES light on.
