AIR and EGR removal

Hi,

i want to clean up the most possible my engine bay and remove AIR and EGR.

I live in a small island in South Pacific Ocean and there no one to tune my computer and delete these things on it so question is :

* is there a way to delete AIR and EGR and save some sensors or else so my car don't have SES light ?
* if not : how to get a re-tune computer from USA and not having to wait too much without my ECM and so without using it.

I have a 96 Z28

If you have a laptop, you can get a mail order tune from someone like PCMforless.com or MadZ28.com (if they can do international orders). If they can, then they will email you the tune. You will also have to purchase a cable to attach the laptop to the OBD port.

Re: AIR and EGR removal

You will get two codes for removing the EGR system. One for the missing solenoid. Substituting a resistor for the solenoid will solve that problem. The other code will be for lack of detectable EGR flow when the solenoid is supposed to open the valve. There is a circuit that adds a resistor to the MAP circuit and switches it into the circuit only when the solenoid would be enrgized. You should be able to do a "search" and find someone who can give you the circuit diagram.

Never sure how much removing the EGR "cleans up" the engine compartment.... its hard to tell its even there unless you go looking for it.

As far as the AIR system, there is a diagnostic that looks for changes in the O2 sensor readings when the AIR pump is turned on and off. I don't know how to eliminate that, without having a programmer eliminate the diagnostic.

The use of an e-mail delivered program has been discussed in the post above. Some programmers will send you a programmed PCM, with a deposit or core charge, allowing you to keep your old PCM until the new one arrives. When you return your old PCM to the programmer, you get your deposit back. Not sure how the international shipping issues would affect all this, or whether any of the programmers would want to get into it.
