AIR delete quick fix...

Ok the lowdown: I've taken my car apart to do the opti, plug/wires, 160 therm, TB bypass. I'm putting it all back together now and now I'm thinking about deleting the AIR pump.

My question is this, can I just take the pump and remove all the rubber hoses attached to it? I know I'll have to cut the metal air tube, but I just don't feel like doing it right now.

Also, what am I going to need to plug up if I just remove the rubber hoses and what do I use to plug it up? Right now all I know is that I need a 3/4 vacuume cap for the CAI.

thanks

I just deleted the A.I.R. from the 388 LT1 I just built for my 96 Vette. I don't know if your exhaust manifolds are the same as mine, but I bought plugs from my local DODGE dealer - 22 mm - designed for a Dodge turbo diesel with a Cummins (sp) engine.

They screwed right into my stock exhaust manifolds. About $9 each.

I had BRYAN at PCMFORLESS turn off the A.I.R. in my PCM when he re-programmed it for the new engine.

Hope this helps.

These metal plugs are much cheaper at a shop that specializes in hydraulics.

Then the 'F' and 'Y' body cars ARE significantly different, at least on my 96. The holes in my manifolds would be closer to the size of a half-dollar.

I DID use the nickel trick to block off one of the EGR holes in my other Vette, a 86, though. Worked like a charm.
