air dam with ground effects

I recently got ground effects and installed the new air dam that came with it and now i have about 3" of ground clearance. Yep that means I bottom out on EVERYTHING if im not careful. How important is this air dam and can I maybe shorten it by an inch because i hate having to drive like this.

I have the exact same problem. Don't know if you can go without. The Wings West instructions I got said you HAVE to install it or over heating can result.

Take it off and there's a 99% chance that your car will over-heat.
You'll get used to having it, and eventually, you won't scrape much at all. Just gotta take things slowly and at an angle.

Go easy on it too.... the damn thing costs $50 to replace and they'll clip you for $25 shipping on top of that. (ask me how I know!)
