Air Conditioner Doesn't Blow
Air Conditioner Doesn't Blow
Here's the deal, the A/C in the Trans Am ('97) isn't blowing at all. When I turn it on, it fires right up. I hear the blower blowing, etc but nothing is coming out of the vents. Vac Leak? Where do I start? I'm an A/C idiot!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The vents are moved by vacuum, and the vacuum source is the upper nipple on the passenger side of the intake manifold, toward the rear (identified in Shoebox's photo). Check that line, the check valve and the plastic line to the small reservoir in the front fender for leaks. Fix the other vacuum leaks while you are at it. You might want to check all the vacuum lines as well. But its the one identifed as the HVAC vacuum source that you have to focus on to possibly fix the A/C vents.
THANK YOU Fred! That solved that problem. The valve looked fine, no cracks in it or the line. Here's the problem. The nipple is broken off and sitting inside of the line. Any chance you guys think I can just fix this with JB Weld or something? Good news is that when I hold the line back over the hole the vents open up. The bad news is that all I'm getting is hot air. Looks like it's a/c charge time. I don't think it's been charged in 5 or 6 years.
