Ai CNC LT1's and 130mph+ traps... 9's forthcoming?
Re: Ai CNC LT1's and 130mph+ traps... 9's forthcoming?
I did delete the remarks I made for one reason...I'm already the anti-christ to many but I'm not to sure if its because of the parts i used or its because its simply still a oem block ( note i didnt say internally) with a conventional 23* head and been 9.3's .But since the peanut gallery has awaken the dead I'll say what I want to say because at this point ,I don't really care ..
#1 I didnt build my engine to suit anyone but myself,,I used whats available to me and thats also available to anyone else out there that wants to buy the parts I used. I think its funny actually why anyone would heel themselves with a oem casting just to say "Hey I Used the oem heads/intake or whatever" My answer to that is, if you choose to stay slow thats your problem ... Phil brought up steve Quinn and don't compare??...well you are right Phil there is no comparison look at the ET difference and he was using a better carb style intake than I run to run that 9.71...so whats left heads...nuff said my mega advantaged 227's were file cores hand ported to a magnificent 298 cfm @ .525 lift WOW so much for an advantage...4 1/10's in the 9 sec range is what in actual hp ?? far more than 20 cfm will give over these awesomely ported lt1 stock castings isnt it???
These bolt on "solid roller" heads should be a good seller...so tell me how much is the runner raised ??... You see I'm just going off what you said earlier if you bolt lt4 heads on, its a lt4 ..what separates a lt4 head from a lt1 ??? just don't be a hypocrit THATS Unprofessional also...
One thing still confuses me though that 383 has every bolt on ,has been internally modified , but yet swap intake and its no longer a lt1 or better yet if it adorns a lt1 specific aftermarket head its no longer a lt1...well this is how I see it, If this is your way of thinking then you better start porting them stock exaust manifolds to, and put them on.... no difference whether its intake or exaust or is it???.. I'm just asking you see ..what goes in must go out right???... so lets not be such a hypocrit If you're looking for a claim to fame in something or a need for a title line for website great for you..wish you luck....
And on a last note:
Maybe you missed quickshots request "what is the fastest cam head stock bottom car you have out there???" reason I ask is simple, his daily driver has been 11.0's on et streets on pump gas ,hyd. roller and over 120k clocked on the odometer, with stock lt1 hand ported castings and stock lt1 intake ,, so sorry if I thought a solid roller 383 ,on race gas with stock manifold and castings isnt very impressive...I'll try not to be so honest from now on, I didnt know I was suppose to read and say nothing on cz28..
Fact is the times Rick has ran is ran pretty much ran weekly in stock eliminator competition thats all I was pointing out.I know reality is hard to handle sometimes..however I am just flattered out of all the other replies on here asking about the combo..You isolated my remarks with a direct reply..I feel so special now thanks!!!
and a big thumbs up, your replies were just as professional as the ones I made..Happy porting!!!!

Re: Ai CNC LT1's and 130mph+ traps... 9's forthcoming?
This thread just seems to go farther and farther down hill.
It seems to be more about arguing than anything relevant.
350 vs 383 vs 396
Solid vs hydrolic roller
Streetable vs all out race
LT1 vs LT4 vs Aftermarket
The perdinant information was posted in a previous post about the car. We know for sure that an LT1 head/intake car ran 10.3 at 130mph with a setup like this.
That is what this thread and posting within it should be about...nothing else. This thread was intended to show what an LT1 head ported by Ai can and has done. They wanted to show what their product is capable of running and what Rick Abare's car ran with thier product. Also to see what other similar setups were running.
If your posting about stock eliminator cars running X.XX it is just pulling the thread off track. If your posting about some car you put together that is the greatest thing since sliced bread, it is pulling this thread of track.
The car ran what it ran with the setup linked above. It isn't the first or last to accomplish such times. Wether grandma can drive it in traffic 20K miles a year or it is a trailer queen doesn't matter to the thread.
We should be asking questions and complimenting not arguing about trivial things.

Congrats AI on the most awesomely ported lt1 castings...That thing is s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s--s-s-s-smokin....meaning pretty fast!!! I'm sure the guides are not bad or valve seals...just wanted to clarify

Also, to just clarify, it was mentioned that the negative stuff was deleted... only one reply was deleted by the moderators/admins and that was an offtopic reply with just a few words that wasn't necessary. There have been several replies deleted but they were deleted by the person who posted the reply.

Let me shift things a little bit. I don't believe it's going to hurt AI to have their thread remain at the top of the forum whilst we discuss some things that are being brought up.
I guess there IS a little frustration blowing around and I can see where alot of these guys are coming from. It seems that everyone wants to throw every car into some little category so as to exclude it from being a competitor on another level....
car doesn't run lt1 head...
car doesn't have a hydraulic roller cam...
car doesn't have ABS....
car runs a non-stock rear end....
blah blah blah....
What is all this about anyways? Is it just there so that everyone can be the "fastest" in some micro-group?
I'm old school, where "run what ya brung & hope ya brung enough" was all that mattered. So what if there are guys here only going high tens with 20k worth of supercharger strapped to their motor. They probably enjoy their car just as much as I do..... as does the guy making over 400rwhp with a hydraulic cam, heads and bolt ons.
I think all the talking just gets everyone riled up. You se guys at the track talking a little smack but guess what... it's always friendly competition. So I propose this... how bout we make a claimer class for LT1's and all you guys who want to claim "fastest this or that" can build something and put your money where your mouth is? Maybe even attach a 6k budget to it or something.
Just a thought.

To clarify our "Micro-group"
Longest build with only a carport to work under.

While the data enthusiasts will always want to bench race numbers that aren't indicative of what actually matters, we’d prefer to stick with consistent results backed up with commensurate real world performance. A few know we’ve been producing quite a bit of CNC ported offerings lately, and we’re always hearing the same questions on our 190cc LT1 CNC offering… “I heard that wasn’t a big enough head… I heard I need ____ CFM, I heard…”
Just to get some numbers, we bolted our as machined CNC StreetPro solid roller head package on Rick Abare’s 383 A4 TA with zero tweaks. They are exactly as our customers receive them. At 3400lbs race wt the car ran a shake down pass of 10.32 @ 130mph NA with a DA of over 2000ft. Our “Basic Port” LT1 intake was mated with just a 52mmTB. Cam is a moderate .625/.600 lift, and we’re shifting at 6500-6800rpm. Many internet "gurus" claim this particular head is “too small” and “doesn’t flow enough,” but it did manage to outrun the 3XXcfm set of heads that were on the car to begin with... Maybe flowbench & dyno racing are little more than a marketing tool shops know the public will just eat up, regardless of the best interests of the customer. Maybe not, who knows
Keep in mind, this car hasn’t even been strapped down and tuned.
What we’d like to know is, what is currently the quickest/fastest LT1 out there? To us that implies GM intake manifold and LT1 cylinder head castings with no epoxy/welding, so please no setups that deviate from that. We're not looking to compare and contrast, just for a little friendly competition & perhaps a goal
We’ll post updates once the car's actually tuned, but in short our goal is 9’s & another national championship.
Stay tuned

I'll try this again since it has calmed down a little. I would just like to know how the heads that we are talking about have performed on stock bottom ends. What are the quickest ETs? I think that imformation would be better to compare bacause most people who build a performance engine opt to go with an aftermarket head anyway. What kind of times are those heads producing on stock displacement street cars? At least this way I can compare apples to apples. BTW, I know Jeff, He has ridden in my car
, I am sure that you are in good hands. Good luck,James

The stock bottom end cars have dynoed 390-42X with an average streetable cam. 355 motors have dynoed similar with the majority being in the upper range. Some people in this thread have cars that have dynoed 430+. 383s are all over the board...depending on setup. I know of a person that put down 400+ on a mustang dyno with cats a 12 bolt and unported intake etc.
Those cars ran 11's last time I checked. Greenbean in this thread went 11.4 but he could have since gone faster. One of the other cars (cant remember name) went 11s at 118 in a full weight convertible.
Unfortunately I can't list many others off the top of my head, but I'm sure a search could pull up some other times and dynos. Ai might add some other times as many of their customers don't post here.
I don't know if any Ai cars with a similar setup have run the times your car has, but I assume they are within a few tenths. There have definately been cars that made the same power or more, but I'm not sure on the ET, that is more a function of putting the power down.
Re: Ai CNC LT1's and 130mph+ traps... 9's forthcoming?
i'll continue walking on TOP of the fence rather then picking one side
my little "micro group" title is "only car in existance with Ai heads and a Joe O cam on stock untouched bottom end with a 12bolt and stock 48mm throtle body and stock unported LT1 intake"
I AM #1
