42lb injectors are overkill (for 400 rwhp). My SVO 30lb injectors never get above 85% DC at WOT (at stock fuel pressure).

Do a search for LE2 or Lloyd... then read up on him. Do the same for AI.

My times are a little dissapointing, but you cant just leave it at that. You have to dig deeper. First off, I was on 17" TTII's which are not light, ran it with Nittos DR's, and I had to baby it off the line which resulted in a 1.92 60'. When I tried to launch at 3000 rpm, the rear end took a dump. We're talking about a full weight car with just the rear seats removed, and then theres my 250 lb fat *** in the car. Also, my shifting is not perfect... this was my first time at the track in 14 months, and the first time with the Spec II clutch and the LE2 setup. Heck, I only had 700 miles on the LE2 in 5 months and then I went to the track, and I went to the track with a miss up top as well...

You can just look at people times and say that they suck. There more to looking at 1/4 times than meets the eye: suspension, tire, weather, track prep, driver ability, weight, etc.

Once I get some skinnies up front, slicks in the rear on 15" rims, a 9", I know I can pull off a sub 12 second run... maybe thats just my wishful thinking again...

If you're really wanting to compare apples to apples instead of apples to melons, you need to compare the LE head with the AI 180 cc head. They both dyno similar, run similar at the track and compare well in pricing. There are guys making 405 rwhp and going 117 mph with the AI 180 CC head with the GM847 cam. Everytime you read that AI is more expensive than LE, just know that its really all BS because people are comparing a more expensive head from AI that performs even better.

apples to apples

IMO its real difficult to make these comparisons. You know they are going to happen, but really, you are looking at 2 different products. People don't care, heck I don't care, b/c the bottom line is how does it run. None-the-less, 1 set of heads are created on a CNC machine, the result of hours of test and tune on a CNC program, these are repeatable head after head. LE's (as far as I know, correct me if im wrong) are created by hand. They are the result of one mans knowledge and passion for LT1 motors, the end of hours of personal experience of what works and doesn't work. In reality they are not exactly repeatable (close) but not exactly.

Personally I think it is not comparing apples to apples. I admire someone who can create (by hand) a head that draws comparison to a head that was created on a very expensive machine, by people who definitely know what they are doing. Sure it may not be the "best way", and the results may not be exactly repeatable time after time, but face it the guy is creating a solid product that DOES (at least in some instances) compete with, a product that most would say, is a higher end product. Old school v New school. Lt1 v Ls1Everyone seems to rip LE, but I am thankful that we have more than 1 head porter that still cares enought about Lt1's to continue to push the limits, so I don't have to run and hide everytime I pull up to the light and face an Ls1.

The main reason that I am comparing the AI 190 to the LE2 (205cc), is the hp claim that both make. They are very similar in those packages, but the LE head has quite a bit larger ports. So what you are pretty much saying is that the AI 180 should be right there with the 205cc LE2?
I dont mind paying more for the head that is going to yield the best performance. So far I am leaning toward the AI head. I may just have to eat the core or pick up another set of heads for the core. I will have to call both and see what can be done with my 97 heads.
