Ahhhh, the money pit

Well went up to the corner gas station. Went in and came out, click click no start. $50.00 tow home. Checked battery, good. Checked neutral saftey switch, starter solenoid disengages going into drive. Well, here is the question, if it is V.A.T.S., would the stater solenoid click? If it is not V.A.T.S., then I guess I need a new starter. What do you think?

the starter solenoid should not click with the vats being bad atleast none of mine ever have. i would asume the starter. try tapping on it with a screwdriver handle or lightly with the handle of a hammer. wouldnt bang on it really hard though and be careful not to arc anything

How did you check the battery? Did you try to jump start it? Are the battery cables clean & tight? Both Ends?

If the answer to the last three are yes, I'd say its the starter.
