I guess it's true that things come in three's and now I know automotive problems are no exception. For the past few months I've had two exhaust manifold bolts broken off in the drivers side head and a really nasty, raspy noise when I drive. Then last night on the way home from my HVAC class, the water pump blew on me! I was just sitting at a light and I heard this sound as if someone was under my hood with a water hose turned on........So I crossed the intersection and parked it in a businesses parking lot and turned off the car. And what did I notice while crossing the street?? I had a HORRIBLE misfire!! (It killed my Opti!!!!! DANG IT!!!! ) I was a little over a mile from home when my pump blew so I had to limp it there somehow. It was my good fortune a gas station was right next to me so I got a hose and filled my radiator back up w/ water, put the cap halfway on (so it didn't build pressure) and got her home. All in all, it was a pretty $#!ty night...... But I guess this is more initiative for me to pull that head and tap those bolts. Anywho, just wanted to vent....

 

i feel you my friend. my opti and waterpump is dying too. not died yet, but going to pretty soon. my WP was leaking, and now it kills my opti, creating misfire and my headers were glowing. luckily i didnt catch a fire......well **** happens.....

 

what are the symptoms of the opti going.does it always cause misfire?i dont have any misfire but around 2500-2800 it bogs down a couple hundred than back up like a need a plug change or sumthing.but in my profile i have all the ignition stuff taken care of.could it be my bosch plugs??
