Aftermarket Y-pipe, any powergains?
Aftermarket Y-pipe, any powergains?
I checked out the Summit catalogue and found that the offer a Y-pipe that should be more freeflowing than the stock one. Has anyone tested it or is it waste of cash? I will still use the stock exhaust manifolds.
If there is possible to gain anything with an better flowing Y-pipe I will build one with dual 2,5" tubing that end up in a singel 3". Since Iīm going to build a 3" exhaust with a straightthrou 3" muffler it wonīt be much extra work.

I mean, is there any gains to be seen from this Y-pipe itself if we donīt keep the Cat in mind? I donīt run a Cat now anyway exept when I visit the yearly smogcheck.

Re: Aftermarket Y-pipe, any powergains?
definately i was running 14.6 bone stock i added slp 1-3/4s(96-97 style) the car went 14.3 added a 2.5" catless y-pipe and a cai and went 13.9 i am sure the car wouldhave been faster if i had the cats on,these times seem slow but i am at 2400' and the 13.9 was run with a DA of 2760' so that would be a 13.3 at sea level,i guess the 18s did not hurt my times.................
