Thumbs up Walbro F20000169 Fuel Pump is a direct replacement for stock fuel pump

Just letting people know that Walbro F20000169 Fuel Pump is a direct replacement for stock fuel pump for 1996 Camaro Z-28. No filler cup modification, everything is included in the kit. Cheapest ones could be found in http://www.racetronix.com/RX-F200000169.html. I am not associated with racetronix by any means, just sharing my research information. When I did my own Z-28 two years ago, the walbro I used needed filler cup modification, which was PITA, but the new pump doesn't. Don't quite see a reason for spending $160 for something similar in performance since walbro works fine for me and my brother. However, nothing changed with fuel pump installation by dropping the tank being the major PITA. After changing the pump my brother car can start much faster, for those who need to turn the key twice or have to wait with turned key to build up fuel pressure- you have a failing fuel pump. Even though your hp will not be affected while driving since your ECM adjust for reduced fuel pressure

This pump is not a true direct-fit replacement and it is lacking all of the hardware and modifications which are part of our F-LT1 pump assembly:

Yes, it is, unless you want to rewire your wires and spend more time+money. Actualy I didn't order my pump from you guys, but I got it from
http://www.autoperformanceengineerin...l/lt1_kit.html for $113 as a kit, just because when you replied to my post it was 2 hours to late. Hope this gona save some $ for future buyers just by looking at this thread. The pump is the same as you sell in http://www.racetronix.com/RX-F200000169.html , everything is the same just you guys sell it for $20 cheaper. The kit I bought included a new pickup filter, which I don't see in your kit, but the old one could be cleaned out and reused, or new one could be bought for a couple $. Everything is included in your kit- connector, couple clamps, and the rubber piece for the positioning of the pump in the filler cup. So one more time, F200000169 is a direct replacement with no modifications needed, and as of my knowledge it is the cheapest fuel pump on the market too. And yes, it supplies more than enough fuel on both mine and my brother's z-28's which both have over 120k miles

Thanks for the info. I may order one of those soon, since I'm pushin the limits of the stock pump when I'm on the bottle. I do have an inline Bosch pump I could install, but the fittings alone would probably cost half as much as a new in-tank pump. I'll check it out.

This pump can supply two cars with enough gas to go over 120k miles?

No, two pumps are supplying enough fuel for two z-28’s, and each camaro has over 120k miles. Tried to make a point that wiring doesn’t go bad with high mileage camaros. From engineering point of view, I am about 99% certain that one walbro high volume fuel pump could supply enough fuel for two cars if less restrictive fuel lines were installed. It would not be practical since both cars would be stuck together

You have a lot to learn about the two systems before making such a bold statement. Does a rubber hose classify as a proper replacement for a flex tube? Does an in-line wiring adapter act as a replacement for corroded / burnt in-tank wiring. Does the old hard and dried factory sealing ring provide a proper seal in the bottom of the bucket? Does the filter sock have the same spec. and dimensions as the factory unit? Do these kits include gas compatible adhesive? ...........

We know what certain vendors have listed on their web pages but when you are not in the position to manufacture anything and all you have to offer is a re-boxed product well.... There are always people who will brag about how they got away with using brand 'X' vs. brand 'R' but until you have used brand 'R' essentially ignorance is bliss.

There 1000's of people on this and other forums who have bought the Racetronix F-LT1 system and they are the ones who can testify to the differences the Racetronix fuel pump assembly has to offer over brand 'X'.

BTW please point out the missing filter sock you claim is not with our systems.

I am just posting my research results. My bad for not seeing the filter in your kit; the picture you guys listed doesn't show one. You guys still have the best price for F200000169 kit, $20 cheaper than anybody else, and in this thread I point to a specefic location where to buy this kit-from you. This thread is intended for people to find the cheapest direct replacement fuel pump, not for better combo where you replace all the wiring. I never wrote that F200000169 kit is better than your kit, and I never even mentioned your kit. Although I gave thumbs up for the best price you guys offer on the F200000169 kit; I gave honest opinion in this thread about what I think of F200000169 kit. My brother and I are very happy with F200000169 kit, and I am letting everybody know that. By the way, I have masters in aerospace engineering from top five engineering schools in USA, I know how to do research well

It doesn't? Look again. All 400-1016 install kits have one as can be seen in the picture. As an engineer you should know that the details are everything.

How do you consider the F20000169 as a direct replacement when none of the supporting hardware is the same or replaces the factory components?

Again what research? You didn't do any research.
Racetronix has done much research and that is why we have an o-ring on the bottom of the pump which makes a liquid tight seal. This seal is very important so that the pump does not suck unfiltered fuel from the bucket which can cause pump failure. A Walbro gerotor pump is much more sensitive to contamination than a factory vane pump. This is why Walbro uses a 30 micron graded media filter sock vs. the factory 70 micron nylon weave filter sock.

The flex tube Racetronix uses is the same as the factory type and will not kink and swell like the rubber hose in the 400-1016 kit. Rubber hose is not compatible with today's fuel which is loaded with solvents and alcohols. When the F-LT1 systems were designed Methanol was not a common additive in gas. This is why the fuel systems in the new cars do not have rubber components. Using the rubber hose requires that the push-lock fitting be removed. The flex tube Racetronix supplies is expanded to fit onto the factory push-lock connector.

Many of the in-tank wiring harnesses are corroded and some are even melted onto the pumps. This is a common problem with the F-LT1 pumps. Using the in-line wiring adapter that comes with the 400-1016 kit retains the old factory wiring, adds an extra connection and length which equates to more resistance and potential problems.

The Racetronix system comes with gas resistant adhesive, a new connector and lock, silicone grease and the proper size 30 micron filter sock for the bottom of the bucket.

All these items in the Racetronix pump assembly are there to address real issues which arise on F-LT1 systems. Our research spans 100's of modules that Racetronix and our dealers have submitted for examination. We also bench and field test our fuel systems. That is research!
