I'm wanting to know what kind of performance gains I could see from a rocker arm upgrade. whats the biggest I can go on a stock motor and what all is required to upgrade alone with the rocker arms. is it possible to get a slightly chopped idle on a stock cam by just upgrading to bigger rocker arms?

 

There is little to no gain from rockers per se, it's the increased lift from increasing the rocker ratio that adds a few hp (on the order of 10hp if you switch to 1.6:1 roller rockers). Apparently, this can be done with stock springs, though it does put them close to coil bind. But a lot of people here report doing it. Switching to 1.6 rokcers will not change your idle quality.
