Aftermarket Overflow Tank
Aftermarket Overflow Tank
Guys I have been modifying a few things on the car and decided to add my Aftermarket Coolat tank (like the Jaz brand and Summit Brand). The only question I have is to I place the hose on the Bottom or the Top of the Tank???
What would be the con's to haveing it branch off each one into a "Y" and then going into the Radiator cap. The stock coolant system pulls the dex cool mix back into the radiator, I am just trying to make sure I won't have any problems.
Any suggestions?

Hose from Rad neck goes to bottom, so system pulls coolant from the overflow during cooldown. Top fitting is vent.
I am a Newb when it comes to coolant, lol
Coolant expands when it gets hot and needs someplace to go - the overflow tank. When the coolant contracts and shrinks, the system must 'drink' from the reservoir to stay full. Same is true as air bleeds out of the system after a refill. Anytime coolant moves in or out of the overflow, air must too, and the vent allows this.
However, if the car ever boils over, steam and hot coolant will escape through the overflow tank, too, and spray out the vent fitting. For this reason, it's a VERY VERY good idea to put a hose on the vent fitting, routed to safely discharge the hot stuff on the ground.
