Aftermarket Cam Guys
How many miles do all of you guys have on your motors with a cam swap? I have 77k on the clock and am thinking about doing a cam swap in the next 8k miles or so. Rockers and new springs are going on the stock heads in the next 2 weeks. All that crap about messing up the cam bearings is from an improper install correct? I have done several searches but no one really specified how long it has lasted and how many miles they have. Once I put the cam in I hope to keep it healthy till the mid 100k mark.

Re: Aftermarket Cam Guys
Would you guys have any suggestion on the most streetable cam for a daily driver? I mean I drive this sucker to school, work, the track, everywhere I go. I really would rather go without the hotcam because I have heard to many people complain about the little gain that they net.
I think I am going to get 1.6 Comp Cam Pro Mag's and some 918 springs put in within the next 2 weeks.

I don't know if I heard right but isn't the CC305 the same as the LT4 Hotcam in specs? I want something that doesnt have a real lift on it. I want a comfortable and more smooth idle without that big lope.

Re: Aftermarket Cam Guys
Search for the 305 on this site. I think you will be surprised with what you find. Some people (with the right setup) have this cam and have gotten it to almost idle like stock (with the right exhaust) and still put out VERY good numbers with the right tune. Just a thought but the info is out there if you just try to look for it.

Cam install at 45k, so far so good, it's still in the break-in process.
Do yourself a favour and ditch the WP drive mechanism, and get an electric WP, the stock one puts too much stress on the front cam bearing.
Also make sure you go very careful with the whole install! Like cleaning up the garage and your tools 2 times before touching anything, vacuuming out the top of the engine before you open it up, and going very-very easy with the cam removal and install.
Also make sure you have plenty of oil pressure before the swap!

Re: Aftermarket Cam Guys
105k and i just did a cc305 swap with EX612 springs and crane gold 1.6 rr's. very happy with the setup and it is my daily driver. idle isnt too bad, havent had a tune yet. and power is nice all around. did replace the front cam bearing while i was in there though. it was pretty worn. thats kind of a pain in the *** to do with not gettin anything into the engine. but it can be done and id recommend this setup for daily drivers, even though i probably could have gone with the cc306 for more power.
