Probably a combination of vibes from open headers, and the flanges possible hitting the floorboards from those extra vibes.

The way are cars are designed, the dashboard and all its accessories are made of plastic. Mostly cheap. But dont get me wrong I love my car and would not change a thing unless Im modding it. Anyways, everytime I open up the cut-out, it seems like all I get is rattles.

Well even with a y pipe you are still going to get rattling. I dont get it often and rarely on the dash, but from underneath. The floorpan vibrates a lot. Everything such a tight fit. I believe I have 4 inchs of ground clearance, but its all worth it

I just fired mine up for the first time tonight, with open headers. Almost the best sound I've ever heard. It was running pig rich though....I guess its from the o2's being so close to the openings.....but to get back on subject, the interior was rattling pretty bad.
