AFR Heads
AFR Heads
I was reading about some AFR 210cc and 220cc heads for the LT1/LT4 and it said it was set up for solid roller only. Now my question is, was it just set-up this way or do you have to run a solid roller with those heads?
Someone please explain solid roller and hydralic lifter set-ups.......I really want to know the difference. Or a link where i can get some very detailed info.

You don't have to run a solid roller setup with the AFR heads. A solid roller lifter is a solid lifter with a roller tip that rides on the cam. A hydraulic roller lifter is a lifter that is collapsible(expands using oil pressure), and also has a roller tip that rides the cam
Ditto, the lifters are almost completely unrelated to the head design. About the only way to design a head for use with SR lifters is to make it work better at extremely high lifts (geometry related).
96T.... can you give some more details on the TA?
Sounds a lot like what i'm planning for my car (except i'm looking for an 18* head conversion)

The deal is they use a tighter spring recommended for solid rollers, just have the pressures checked to see if your cam will need them , if not then use a different spring.
The springs I got with my heads had a lot of seat pressure. I would suppose they'd be for a solid roller, even though they'd be half-asses solid roller springs. I just took them off and replaced them with what I needed...no biggie. There are a few big differences between the 210 and 220 heads though.
