aeromotive AFPR vacuum line

i had the fuel pressure gauge hooked up the other day to adjust the pressure. with the vacuum like off the prerssure would stay at 35 while reving but when its connected the pressure drops to 28-30 under load. also the car runs alot better at WOT with it disconnected. the pressures set at 35 because when i took it to the dyno the 1st time after the motor was in LT1 edit wasnt working so we turned down the pressure to lean it out.

im getting the car tuned this week so im setting the pressure back to stock and then ill lean it out with the computer. now i take it the problems im having with my 100shot bucking and poping at 5000rpm would be the lean condition by having the pressure down that low? also waht exactly does that vacuum line do

The purpose of the vacuum line on the FPR is to cut back pressure at low speeds and bump up pressure at higher engine speeds. As engine speed increases, vac level falls and so fuel pressure increases with lower vacuum. Your fuel pressure is way low. You should be around 45 PSI.

I suggest you not shoot anymore until you have the proper fuel enrichment, the proper timing when shooting and the needed tuning. A burnt piston or 2 is not a pretty site.

I also suggest you have a lengthy discussion with Fred (Injuneer). I don't use nor do I like laughing gas therefore I know next to nothing about it. Fred on the other hand probably knows everything you will need to know. He could direct you to the information sources.

I've already answered his question in another thread.

Spraying a wet system with inadequate fuel pressure is a sure way to break parts. If the fuel jet was selected based on 43.5psi, and the system is only producing 28psi at WOT, you are running 20% short on the fuel for the nitrous.
