LS1 brakes were a great upgrade--very noticable improvement in stopping power--very highly recommended. I got my upgrade from eBay. I ended up having to replace the rotors & pads as the ones I got were warped. Autozone had them for like less then $40 per rotor and they are great.

My 6pt Wolfe rollbar is on it's way, can report back when it gets here.

My favorite mods to date are STB, LS1 brakes, 32mm solid front swaybar.

The powerslots are overpriced and won't do anything for you. Perhaps they might lessen the chance of the pad glazing but that's about it. Get good quality blanks and good pads like HAWK HPS for the street. HP+ are a street/track pad which work great but dust a bit. I can lock up my LT1 brakes even when I have my race tires on (victoracers) at an autocross. I use HP+ pads. LS1 brakes and HAWK HPS will be plenty for the street.

Thunder Racing brake package

How good are the powerslot rotors? i was thinking about getting the brake upgrade combo from thunderracing.
I went with this package, and really like it. Maybe not as good as upgrading to LS1 brakes, but a lot easier, and a worthwhile improvement.

Agree with the cross drilled, not the slotted part.

You should at least use SFI rated padding. That stuff won't do anything in an accident.

Who makes it and where is it available? I've actually taken the padding back off since the roll bar is so far from my head. I'll use padding at the track to pass tech, but for the street, I might as well pad the doors. JMO...

You can get it from Summit Racing. I think this is it - http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...ollbar+padding but they don't have pix on the site and don't say for sure. I know the catalog shows it and says it's SFI rated in there, but I don't have one handy...

Thanks, that's what I've got. I think the ones you're talking about are the ones that look like half pads. I've seen them too, just didn't think they'd be very easy to use. I'll probably order a couple and take a closer look.

Ah, sorry, I just can't tell from their site. SFI is a half pad like you describe. Goes halfway around the bar. It's held on with sticky tape and velcro, or zip ties like you have. But it's the only stuff that will give you any protection in an accident - the stuff you have is fine for not bumping your head as you climb in to the car, etc.

I'd still agree that a rollbar on the street w/o helmet is a big problem, but that's what I've got so I can't make too much of an argument....

Thanks, Dave. I've been following your car's progress for a couple of years now and it's been an inspiration for mine. Your website is one of the most complete and well-constructed around. I hate to see you're selling the beast, but look forward to reading about your next project.

I'm going to do some gonzo research on padding and I'll post the results. As you know, the toughest thing with the 'verts is finding something that will still allow the top to function.
