This is currently selling for 2000.00 but the reserve has not been met and i dont know how much but as you can tell it looks like a good deal.
i saw that on there, ill watch it but chances are it will end higher than my price range due to the low miles. i would also have to figure out shipping costs because its in california and i am in florida.

You can find solid cars for <$1k that may need a rebuild or something, but you said you have limited experience working on cars and you already have a car with a blown motor. I would suggest spending some more money (you said <=$3k), and get something in GOOD condition. I personally wouldn't plan on a $3k fbody to be a DEPENDABLE dd though because before you know it, you're putting $400 into an opti, $200 into a fuel pump, $250 into a waterpump, etc, etc. Also, remember, especially with the car you originally mentioned, you can always rebuild the motor on a high mileage car, but EVERYTHING on it also has 178k miles, so expect to be replacing suspension, brakes, trans?, body, etc. Personally, I would try to tackle the motor in the toyota, preferably before buying something else, or save enough money on the purchase of a car so you can get the toyota going *just in case*

thanks for the advice. the problem with the toyota is that it died due to engine sludge, there was apparently a recall and toyota was not nice enough to notify me of that since i wasn't the first owner of the car, and everyone that i have taken the car to has said that it will be better to just put a new engine in the thing, and the cheapest quote i found was 6000. the worst part about that whole mess is i still pay 400 a month for this car that just sits in my driveway and nobody wants it as a trade for obvious reasons.

x2

If you are paying that in the Toyota I would get that running for the price- (assuming its not a ragged out 89 Corolla w/300k miles) but I assume it must be halfway decent car for 400 hundo a month.

Personally I think your best bet is to get the Toyota back up and running, pay it off and drive it till the wheels fall off. In the mean time save your nickels and quarters and look for right deal on an F-body to come around. My first one I spent 4 months looking for and 6 months on the second one.

You are much better off buying the one you want that buying one and immediately start talking about t-top conversion/tranny swap/paint job/motor swap/wheels etc...Prol just about anyone you ask will tell you that waiting for the right one is the better choice than spending thousands to get what another one has from the factory.

yeah the car is nice its an avalon, it only has 73k miles on it, and i take good care of it. still wash it every other week even though its as useful as a paperweight right now. im just one of the unlucky ones i guess. based on what im hearing i will probably just pass on that car and see if i can find a deal on an engine for my car theres one on ebay right now for 1000 but it has 177k miles on it.
