Adding 1.7RR to 230/236/112. Will the car lope harder?

Fellas, fellas, fellas,
I been listening to some cc 306 soundclips and I LOVE the lope/idle it has. Can my 230/236/112 (I have .544/.555" lift with 1.6 RRs) have more lope with the addition of 1.7RRs which I'll be installing pretty soon? LIft will be .578/.589 with the 1.7RRs.
I'd love to ****** out the 230/236 and put the 306 in but I don't have the funds
Any opinions are welcomed. Oh yea, I allready have Lloyd Elliot heads on the car with basic bolt-ons

Thanks

Tim

If I'm not mistaken the XE 230/236 is a bigger cam than the cc306. I also believe that both of them are on a 112 LSA. The lobe separation is what gives you the lope. The higher the LSA the less lobe and vice versa.

CC306 is a 230/244/112

Nothing wrong with the 230/236/112, my friend trapped 117 in his auto 97 TA with that cam and ported Lt1 heads. Its a good cam.

I dont think it will lope harder because duration/overlap stays petty much the same.

What springs are you running? I have 987's and I was having coil bind issues with the 1.7's. The car would fall on its face up top. PEAK POWER WAS DOWN AND THE CAR WOULD FALL OFF DRAMATICALLY. Becareful if you are running those springs. I know they are rated for .600" lift, but....

Thanks all,
I have the 987's as well. My installer is familiar with the valve train geometry issue of the 1.7s. He has a pushrod length checker and said he would get some different sizes (hardened) if needed.
Well, what other springs could I get to handle the lift that DONT require milling the heads. I don't think it would be too much more of a hassle to have some new springs put in while the valve covers are off.
I'll also got a new opti from Jason cromer. Now saving for a new waterpump.

Well, I didnt change the pushrods, so maybe that had something to do with it? I dunno. All i know is 987's + stock length pushrods + 1.7's = not good idea.

Any links or proof or reasons as to why they are junk? I was thinking of purchasing these soon but I don't want to buy junk.

OH God My head is killing me.
Most of the masses say don't do it...verses 1-2 people that has done it.
I'm considering just sending them back and putting the $222 towards some suspension mods. (All the power in the world don't matter if you can't hook....Right?) This is just too complicated and I already got High blood pressure.
I'm stuck yall.

I'll check this board tomorrow. I'm out!!!!!!

Quick fix:
You could always lower your idle, that should produce some more lope!

That quick fix is so simple that its plain brilliant.
But....wouldn't that make the car more prone to stalling at stop signs and red lights?
My idle now is 950. Do you think 900 would do the trick.
Thanks to all for the help.

Hsyr...you got mail.

Tim
