I have wondered the exact same thing.

I called Accel tech support and complained about the warped optical wheel. They are going to send me two replacement wheels to hopefully solve this problem.

Yeah, I was pretty sure it was, just wondering if they used the same one.

I wonder if the wheel would give you start up issues. Not being in a higher rpm situation, so that it can flatten back out, may cause problems. Hopefully the new wheels are straight and true.

96turboTA, a few questions.

1. Do you think the summit wheel and the GM wheel are the exact same part from the same maker other than one being warped.

2. Is the one out of the GM opti absolutely dead straight or flat?

3. You are still using the summit opti with the GM pulse wheel?
I know you weren't addressing me, but I rebuilt my stock opti earlier this year with a MSD cap & Rotor, and had my encoder totally apart. The encoder wheel was flat with no warpage at all. I don't like that one in the picture, and even if it did flatten out during higher revs, that would bother me too because who wants it flexing about in there?

1. the two wheels are identical right down to the part number.

2. The GM opti wheen was dead straight flat.

3. I am using the summit opti with the GM pulse wheel correct.

sorry for the late reply

I experienced the exact opposite. The car idled fine. It wasn't until you revved the engine up that it became a problem.
