Do not get the accel distributor. I had very bad luck as well as I have heard of others having bad luck with them.

i have known a few people whote "attempted" to run this distributor, and none of them had it last for more than a month or two... it is has not proven to be a very good distributor at all...

There is nothing wrong with the stock piece, youre not gonna get any more performance from a different brand. If you really want a vented one then you can get a vented unit then change it out with a later model timing cover (95-97) and chain. Not sure if the water pump is the same or not but someone else should. The upside is that oyu can run a double roller timing chain with this setup.

I have the Accel opti on my car now. I have had an MSD as well, the Accel has outperformed the MSD. I had the MSD on for about 1 year and when I did I had to return it ( something wrong with optical sensor), got it back and it started doing the samething within a month and by then my warranty was up and they wouldnt touch it. I got an Accel opti brand new for $199 and definetly had second thoughts about it, but did it anyway. I have now had it on for a little more than a year and a half and put 15-16,000 miles and havent regreted it.........yet. but when it goes, I will go back with a GM unit. So honestly , I would recommend a GM opti.

I don't know what you mean by "dual vented", but for your 1993 the only vented opti you can buy to just bolt on would be the MSD one. They added vents to their pre-95 optis.
To convert to a regular vented opti, you would have to spend quite a bit more money and work to get there.

You won't see any gains with the aftermarket opti. I would just go with a factory replacement.
