AC pulley squeeking/grinding
AC pulley squeeking/grinding
Well, I got the ignition fixed and she's running smooth again.
Now the A/C is making a metal-on-metal squeek/grinding noise.
(I can hear even hear it when I take the belt off and spin it with my hand)
Does the whole thing need to be replaced, or is there an easier fix for this one?

Re: AC pulley squeeking/grinding
Sounds like the whole thing needs to be replaced. That's exactly how my AC compressor sounded right before it seized up and threw the belt on my blazer. I think they run $200-$300 or so and aren't too difficult to replace. Just gotta get it recharged once your done obviously.
Re: AC pulley squeeking/grinding
I don't know the year they changed over, I would guess 134a though. There should be a sticker on your upper radiator mount / shroud thing indicating what refrigerant to use.
Re: AC pulley squeeking/grinding
It will not matter anyhow.. When you get the new thing and have them recharge it.. just have them retrofit it with the R 134a fittings and be done with it.. it is pretty easy. the only thing they have to do is suck out all the old refigerant if there is any left and the moisture...
