AC help.. evap temp sensor
Ok, heathers car has a DTC 71, evap temp sensor.. where the HELL is this thing? I assume somewhere in evaperator, but where and how do I get to it??? even just to get a resistor/jumper it
Jordon,
Is it the sensor that is in between the dryer and the fire wall on the passenger side. The sensor I am thinking of is on one of the two ac lines by the passenger side shock tower.

no, that is the AC pressure sensor(on the AC line above the shock tower). i need the AC temp sensor.

you are thinking of the evap system for the fuel tank

It's a probe that goes into the evaporator inside the heater/AC box..
Book says NOT to put a meter on it to test it, as that will ruin it..
I have never done one, or the heater core, so can't offer much more help..

yea, I know you aren't supposed to put a meter on it.. just need to know how to get to it, or its connector so I can jumper it(bypass it) cause its faulty, and my wo-man don't got no AC!
There should be a plug near the blower motor that goes to the sensor. Wires in the plug are blk, dk blu, gry. The book says you have to remove the heater core to get to the sensor. If replacing the sensor, it is not supposed to go back into the same spot in the evaporator, but somewhere nearby. The sensor relays temperature to the pcm so the a/c system does not cause the evaporator to freeze up.

Jordon, with the AC not working do you mean the AC clutch will not engage yet your full of R132?
Also have you bypassed the Heater core?
Reason is today mine took a dump. The freon, fuses and relay seem ok. Haven't had it scaned yet. Just looking at possibilities.
My heater core was bypassed yet has worked fine the past 2yrs I've had the car.
Lately when car was cold it would work fine as temps reached 80s here in Fla it would get hot then cool and so on. Today it said enough and stopped working.
Haynes has a pic of it in the top of the core.
Let me know if you find a solution.

heater core is still connected.
I am getting dtc 71, which is the evap temp sensor. if I jumper the AC compressor relay, the AC compressor runs.hence I knew it was either the pressure or temp sensor.. was HOPING the pressure :-/
