ac delete
ac delete
i am deleting my ac and need to know what all i have to do about taking the compressor off will i just need a shorter belt or what i already have the engine out of the car because it is in the process of getting rebuilt also will my computer through up any codes because i discounected all the ac stuff i even removed the box like thing on the passenger side and put sheet metal over the whole thanks for any help
You pull the compressor off, and replace it with a "1LE A/C delete pulley", about $25-30 from a discount GM parts dealer. The pulley is on a bracket that bolts in place of the compressor, and allows you to get by with a belt very similar to the stock length, stock routing
The AC delete will show up when you scan the PCM.... I believe its for loss of the A/C pressure switch, or something like that, but it doesn't turn on the SES light.
Why cut the harness connector off? Just tape it up, push it out of sight. Unless you are after max weight reduction, and never plan to reinstall any of the deleted parts. In that case, remove as much of the wiring as you can, along with the connector.

does anybody know where i could get an ac delete pulley also couldnt i just get a shorter belt instead of a ac delete pulley and get rid of the belt tensioner and use the alternator as the tensionenr by prying it up to the bolt holes that would tighten the belts right? just have the power steerring pump and the alternator and harmonic balancer hooked up to the belt

As far as trying to drive the alternator and PS pump direct with a non-tensioned belt, you need to go look at the front of the engine and you'll see why it won't work. The damper/pulley and the alternator use the ribbed side of the belt, the PS pump uses the "back" side. The tensioner is required to keep the belt in contact with all of the pieces. Remove the A/C without the delete pulley and the tensioner doesn't work, remove the tensioner and nothing will line up (water pump is in the way) and there is no way to wrap the ribbed side of the belt, or a smooth belt around the damper the PS pump and the alternator.... it is physically impossible because three pieces are almost in a straight line, not in a triangle. And there are no slotted holes in the alternator mount to allow you to pry it.
