alright. gotcha. no it really can not cause an over heating issue. if you had a belt driven water pump and the hub on teh compressor was starting to lock up then I would say yeah it might. but it sounds like you have 2 problems. an AC and a cooling system problem. does it make this sound with the AC on and off?

sounds like the clutch is on it;s way out. it will continue to get worse and eventaly take out the compressor when it locks up

it requires a special tool. it;s apuller and installer. it's not hard and it;s not easy. just takes a little time. setting the correct air gap can be a bit of a pain tho

the clutch is a pressed fit. it needs to be a set gap bewteen the hub and the clutch. I belive it to be .020. that way it will not rub on the hub hhwne it;s off an it will be close enough to engage onto the hub when it;s turned on. be warned. 9/10 times even after you replace the clutch the compressor will still go south
